Sabrina Elizabeth Bond Jackson is a talented artist and writer. Sabrina authored the
book, Running From Her Father God, a page-turner capturing her life as a teen, growing
up
in Baltimore, MD, with her mom and dad and three older brothers.
Sabrina easily captures the sovereignty of God’s love and protection, specifically
during seasons of disappointment, dissolution, and what I would describe as the
decomposition of a daddy-daughter bond.
We’ve all suffered through some adversity as a child and as young adults. Through
narrative voice, Sabrina takes the reader along with her as she traverses through the
traumas of heartache, near-rape, and physical, mental, and emotional abuse from the men
who failed to emulate daddy’s love and protection.
At eight years old, Liz, sometimes the protagonist and at other times the antagonist,
comes home from school in horror, finding all of her dad’s belongings outside, stacked
against the bricks.
From the moment her father left home, notes of abandonment mixed with rebellion
mixed with trauma would be in pursuit of young Liz until she decided enough was enough
and stopped running.
Stacked against the devastations was a mother who stood with perpetual fierceness
to protect, defend and intercede for Liz during her many trials and tribulations.
Yesterday was my third time reading Running From Her Father God! Even though I
knew what would happen, I still cried and laughed, and my heart still dropped each time Liz
put herself in impossible situations.
If you want something to read that is brutally honest and full of the miraculous
workings of God’s protecting hand, then you owe yourself the pleasure of reading, Running
From Her Father God!
