The book screams kitchen table talk. You won’t find a more pleasing narrative voice
than Tab’s. The reader can hear her laughter and see her smile in the gentle urgings to give
our desires a shot. She comes from a place of authenticity. I am not going to lie–she has a
gift that kind of creeped me out at first, but after listening to her heart as she tells us story
after story describing pure relentlessness, I settled down.
How do we love those we haven’t met or even talked to? What is it about a
community that draws us into each other’s experiences? Tabatha Brown does that. She
invites us all to sit at her kitchen table while she whips us up something veganny and tasty.
And the whole time busying herself around the kitchen, making sure everyone had what
they needed. She gives each of us her undivided attention; it too is a gift.
Tab offers her readers a road map to facing life’s most difficult tasks–physical
sickness, mental anguish, and the loss of a parent. She never seems to let go of grace. Tab
shows us and pushes us to realize that we cannot allow anything to stand between us and
our dream. She actualizes that sentiment as she traces her journey from dream inception to
reality.
I am encouraged to embrace the prickly parts of my journey– to know that every unpleasant
pitstop encompasses lessons, courage, and the opportunity to be resilient.
