I first “met” Jon as a guest on someone else’s podcast. I don’t remember the
podcast’s name, but what he had to say resonated instantly. What is this talk of broken
soundtracks and replacement soundtracks? I don’t recall where I was going that day, but I
beelined it to Barnes and Noble to pick up a copy. I ended up having to order it from
Amazon.
Acuff is a funny dude. Corny funny. Dad jokes funny.
Soundtracks has so profoundly spoken to me in this season of “move over and make
room for something new.” He guides the reader through the pitfalls of overthinking. Are
you an overthinker? Jon says, “It’s (overthinking) not a personality trait.” Jon says
overthinking is the “sneakiest part of fear.” I know, right? That’s good stuff.
I love what he says about turning down the dial on negative thoughts. He coaches
the reader to understand that the negative thoughts are going to come, but when they do,
there are strategies that we can use to dial them down. “A fast way to find a new
soundtrack is to ask yourself, “What do I want to be true?
